Beyond Paradise confirms series three release date and surprise return of major star
Beyond Paradise is back for a brand new series in just a few weeks, following Humphrey and Martha in Shipton Abbott – however, someone is set to return who could cause trouble
BBC One has confirmed Beyond Paradise will return to our screens later this month, shortly after the series’ big finale – however, there could be trouble ahead of Humphrey and Martha with the return of one character.
The new series, which begins on Friday 28 March on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, will see Humphrey and the team investigate a new set of cases in the seaside town of Shipton Abbott.
\However, fans can also expect the return of Martha’s ex-fiancé Archie, played by Jamie Bamber, who “presents an unexpected challenge”. The character first appeared in series one and began working with Martha, however after trying to convince Martha that he was better suited to her than Humphrey, they parted ways professionals.
Now, Archie is back – alongside a host of new guests stars in the upcoming series. The likes of Hugh Dennis and Caroline Quentin are set to make their debut on the detective drama, with Hugh’s part being teased by the show’s brand new trailer.

Jamie Bamber will be back as Martha’s ex Archie
“The team faces a host of baffling cases in the upcoming series, including a body discovered in a river on the county border, a perplexing chocolate box poisoning, a long-standing farming feud, and a spiking incident at sea,” the BBC has teased.
Meanwhile, Humphrey and Martha face new hurdles as foster parents to nine-year-old Rosie, and Esther faces a change in her personal life that takes her outside of her comfort zone.
Kris Marshall and Sally Bretton will be back as Humphrey and Martha in the spin-off, while Zahra Ahmadi (Esther), Dylan Llewellyn (PC Kelby), Barbara Flynn (Anne) and Felicity Montagu (Margo) are reprising their roles.
Beyond Paradise fans will get an extra dose of the show as it returns for a special Red Nose Day sketch, in which the world of Shipton Abbott collides with that of Not Going Out starring Lee Mack.
Speaking about the sketch, star and writer Lee said: “Because Sal’s in both, it’s the idea that these two worlds collide, that her two characters collide – and comedy ensues. When something’s new and different and throws you a bit of a curveball, that’s exciting,” he continued. “So this time, I thought ‘Rather than bring them to us, why don’t I go to the world of Beyond Paradise?’ So that’s what I did. Because we [Not Going Out] are in a studio a lot, being out on location and being in that world is great.”
Beyond Paradise returns on Friday 28 March on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
