Death in Paradise star Kris Marshall calls for huge ‘reunion’ special

Death in Paradise could see all the show's detectives star in one episode for a major case.

Kris Marshall famously starred in Death in Paradise for four seasons as DI Humphrey Goodman before his exit in 2017. Although he stepped away from the Caribbean paradise to raise his young family, he eventually reprised the detective role for the show’s spin-off Beyond Paradise.

With Death in Paradise’s season 14 finale airing next week and the spin-off’s third season kicking off later this month, Marshall opened up about his hopes for the drama. Since the sun-soaked murder mystery first premiered in 2011, four famed stars have led the cast of investigators. In addition to Marshall, actors Ben Miller, Ardal O’Hanlon, Ralf Little, and incumbent star Don Gilet have played the detective role.

When questioned about their friendship away from the drama, the Humphey star admitted to Radio Times: “There’s no WhatsApp group.”

However, he added: “But I would love some kind of reunion where all five of us meet up on screen.”

Although the proposed special has yet to be confirmed, Marshall’s character has been on screens with most of the detectives.

During season three, Miller’s Richard Poole made a ghostly cameo, and then Marshall met Ardal O’Hanlon’s Jack Mooney in season six before briefly bumping into Ralf Little’s Neville Parker on a trip to Saint Marie in the first season of Beyond Paradise.

Death in Paradise

While it is yet to be seen if Humphrey will meet Don Gilet’s DI Mervin Wilson, there will be a special Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise crossover on Friday (March 21).

This will take place during Comic Relief and will cross over with Lee Mack’s sitcom Not Going Out.

Sally Bretton, who is an integral cast member of both the hit shows, will be appearing in the special alongside her on-screen partners, Lee Mack and Beyond Paradise’s Marshall.

Speaking on the upcoming episode, Marshall said: “It’s always a delight to be able to combine the joys of comedy with the ability to help the many worthwhile charities that Comic Relief supports.”
