Fears for Steph grow in Emmerdale as she prepares for life-changing surgery

Steph Miligan (Georgia Jay) met with a surgeon in tonight’s episode of Emmerdale to discuss permanently changing her appearance.
The character has been struggling ever since she learnt the truth about Anthony Fox. After the evil man raped Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) when she was a child, she fell pregnant and gave birth to Steph.
The warped connection she shares with Anthony has been something Steph hasn’t been able to process. Whenever she looks in the mirror, Steph sees Anthony, and cannot shake this from her mind.
As a result, Steph took to researching plastic surgery. In tonight’s episode, she met with a surgeon to discuss a nose job.
The doctor had some welfare questions for Steph, but she became uncomfortable as she answered them and wondered if they were really necessary.

Sensing something was wrong, the surgeon encouraged Steph to open up. At first, it looked as though she was going to tell him everything about Anthony, but we then learnt she had told him a cover-up story, but still something strong enough to argue she would benefit from surgery.
After their chat, the doctor concluded that Steph could have the operation after all. Back at home, she spun a story to Ruby and Caleb (William Ash) about how she’ll be going abroad to see her friend, therefore buying her time to go to hospital.
Caleb and Ruby were somewhat taken aback by the sudden decision, but Steph maintained that time away from the Dales would do her some good.
Just before the episode ended, Steph took a call from an unknown number. It was to organise a consultation to discuss another appearance based operation. This time, a brow lift.
Poor Steph remains convinced that changing the way she looks will help her deal with the revelations about Anthony.
If Ruby and Caleb learn about their daughter’s state of mind, will they be able to stop the surgeries from going ahead?
