A revenge plan by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) has caused multiple Emmerdale residents to fall unwell.

Yesterday, John snuck onto Butlers Farm and tampered with a pipe from the slurry tank, meaning the liquid started to pour down a field and into the valley.

John sabotaged the tank because he wanted to get revenge on Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb). In last Friday’s episode, Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) made the alarming discovery, and very quickly blamed her brother due to him being the last person working on it.

As the family attempted to control the spill, it wasn’t long until they realised the contaminated liquid had flowed into the main water supply. Utterly horrified, Moira knew the rest of the village had to be informed to stop them from drinking the liquid.

Unfortunately, this news got to Vic (Isabel Hodgins) after young Harry had drunk some of the water. It meant he was rushed to hospital, very unwell.

In tonight’s episode, the contaminated water was talk of the village. The residents had to boil water to remove the bacteria, though Charity (Emma Atkins) struggled to remember to do it all of the time!

Also in the village, we learnt local vicar Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) and his mum Claudette (Flo Wilson) have fallen unwell as a result of drinking the liquid.

This development did absolutely nothing to help Mackenzie’s guilt. He spent the majority of the day in the village because he didn’t think it would be appropriate to visit Vic in hospital to see how Harry was.

Towards the end of the episode though, Mack went to see Victoria, but it just made him feel worse. She stood up and told her friend that if anything happens to her son, it’ll be his fault.

Outside, an overwhelmed Mack broke down and was comforted by John, the real culprit of the slurry spill, and the real reason why a young child is in hospital…
