Emmerdale saw one villager confirm her long-term marriage is over after a devastating betrayal was finally revealed in Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap

Emmerdale’s Ruby Fox-Miligan (played by Beth Cordingly) has confirmed her plans to split from long-term husband Caleb (William Ash) after his shocking betrayal was finally revealed.

Caleb, a scheming businessman, has been harbouring a dreadful secret from his wife. Last month, when Ruby’s estranged mother Helen Fox (Sharon Maughan) attempted to reach out to her, Caleb stepped in and visited Helen, where she confessed that she was terminally ill and wanted to reconcile with Ruby.

Caleb demanded that if Helen truly wished to see Ruby, she would have to pay him £100k upfront. The hospital summoned Ruby to visit her mum, but upon arrival, the nurse informed her that Helen had passed away just 20 minutes prior.

Ruby was devastated that she never got the chance to reunite with her estranged mother before her passing.

Fast forward to Wednesday’s episode (October 16), Ruby briefly discussed the topic of death with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), who is mourning the loss of iconic character Zak (Steve Halliwell), reports the Manchester Evening News.

Chas advised Ruby to visit the hospital and inquire if her mum had mentioned her before her demise. Upon arriving at the hospital, Ruby spoke with the nurse who was present during Helen’s final moments and confirmed that they had indeed talked about Ruby.

The nurse nonchalantly mentioned that Caleb had visited Helen on the ward just hours before her death. This revelation broke Ruby’s heart, and when she confronted Caleb at home about Helen’s death, he seemed evasive.

Drama unfolded as Ruby discovered Caleb’s betrayal, having visited Helen and preventing her from seeing her dying mum for that final farewell.

In a fiery showdown, Ruby didn’t hold back, yelling at Caleb to leave their home: “Get out, you have lied to me for the last time, Caleb, I am done with you for good this time”, sealing the fate of their rocky marriage.

With a firm “Just go”, she watched Caleb exit, leaving her in pieces. Will Ruby ever be able to forgive Caleb for robbing her of her last goodbye with her mother, or is this truly the end for the troubled couple?
