‘Landman’ Season 2 Star Addresses Taylor Sheridan’s “Midas Touch” Amid Poor Fan Reception

One of Landman’s biggest new stars has spoken out about Taylor Sheridan’s “Midas touch” despite the second season’s lukewarm reception from fans. Although Andy Garcia first appeared in Landman Season 1, his role in Season 2 has been greatly expanded. In Episode 3, he features prominently alongside other stars such as Billy Bob ThorntonAli Larter, and Demi Moore, and the show is also setting him up to be the perfect villain for later in the season. Garcia recently sat down for an interview with The Times, where he recalled receiving word that Sheridan was interested in having him star in Landman.

He certainly has what you would call the Midas touch,” Garcia said. Some fans would push back against this notion — Landman Season 2 currently holds a 39% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, significantly lower than the 63% score of Season 1. He continued, “If you get a call from Shakespeare, and he says, ‘I want to write this play for you,’ you go, ‘I haven’t read it yet, but I’m all in.’” According to Landman’s Andy Garcia, Taylor Sheridan is the modern-day William Shakespeare — his growing television empire on Paramount rivals even the biggest movie franchises.

Sheridan’s television empire at Paramount isn’t long for the world, though. Not long ago, it was announced that Sheridan is leaving Paramount for NBCUniversal, for a deal reportedly in the $1 billion range. That’s James Bond-level money for the Yellowstone creator. Sheridan’s TV obligations to Paramount won’t be complete until the end of 2028, but he will have the freedom to make non-Paramount movies much earlier.

What Day Do New ‘Landman’ Episodes Come Out?

New episodes of Landman Season 2 release every Sunday at 12 am PST and 3 am EST. This means that when you wake up on Sundays, you don’t have to wait until nighttime to catch the newest episodes of Sheridan’s hit oil drama. There are ten episodes in Landman Season 2, so the show will be on the air until January. Paramount hasn’t officially announced the fate of Landman beyond Season 2, but new star Sam Elliott has confirmed that Season 3 will begin production early next year. Sounds like a renewal announcement is coming any day now.
