The Capture series three has been announced and will see a Death in Paradise star reprising her role
Death in Paradise actress Ginny Holder is set to reprise her role in the third series of The Capture, alongside an actor known for his role as a BBC detective in the Dublin Murders.
Ginny will return as DI Nadia Latif, joining Paapa Essiedu, who will be back as Isaac Turner, and Holliday Grainger, who stars as Rachel Carey.
First-look images from the third series reveal that Jinny, Paapa, and Holliday will be joined by Indira Varma as BBC News presenter Khadija Khan, Hugh Quarshie as Commissioner Cameron Yates, Linus Roache as Colonel Figgis, Ben Miles as Danny Hart, Lia Williams as Gemma Garland, Ron Perlman as CIA agent Frank Napier, Nigel Lindsay as DSI Tom Kendricks and Tessa Wong as DC Chloe Tan, all reprising their roles.
New additions to the cast include Killian Scott, known for his role as Detective Rob Reilly in the Dublin Murders, Jonathan Aris, Joe Dempsie, Andrew Buchan, and Amanda Drew. Daisy Waterstone will also be returning as Abigail Carey.
Ginny is also recognised for her role as Officer Darlene Curtis in Death in Paradise. However, in the recent Christmas special, which aired in December, Darlene was conspicuously missing from the episode, reports the Express.
While the character didn’t appear in person in the festive episode, she did feature via video call in some scenes with Detective Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet).
The synopsis for the forthcoming series of The Capture reveals: “How do you protect the truth in a world where lies are daily currency? And with the proliferation of deepfakes, how can we trust what we see?”
“It’s been 12 months since Rachel Carey broadcast a live deepfake of a government minister to the nation, exposing the UK intelligence service’s clandestine video manipulation programme known as Correction.
“Amidst an inquiry into the unlawful use of Correction, Carey has become Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command, determined to regain the public’s trust in surveillance technology through the new Operation Veritas camera system.
“And then it happens: a brutal and exceptionally well-coordinated act of terror aimed right at the heart of the British establishment that leaves behind just one witness.”
The synopsis wraps up: “The more Carey investigates, the deeper she is drawn into an unfolding geopolitical crisis that infects the British political establishment, the security services, and the media. The conspiracy reaches deep into the State, but just who is pulling the strings?”
