The 15th series of Death in Paradise is set to hit our screens at the end of this month, and fans are buzzing with anticipation. The first episode of Series 15 will premiere on 30 January 2026, airing at 9pm on BBC One.
While the plot details remain a closely guarded secret, viewers can expect the return of some beloved characters. Don Gilet will reprise his role as DI Mervin Wilson, joined by Shantol Jackson as DS Naomi Thomas, Shaquille Ali-Yebuah as Officer Sebastian Rose, and Elizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey.
Don Warrington is also tipped to make a comeback as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, following his exit from Saint Marie at the conclusion of series 14.
Selwyn was ousted from his position and initially replaced, but after Catherine spearheaded a petition, he was offered his job back. In a surprising twist, he declined the offer and left Saint Marie for the UK.
After uncertainty surrounding Don’s future on the show, fans were delighted to see him appear in both the Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise Christmas specials, reports the Express.

The show’s lead detective shared a teaser about Selwyn’s return on social media. Alongside a photo of the Commissioner and Detective Mervin Wilson, Don posted: “Thank you for the kind words regarding #DeathInParadise Xmas Spesh. See you in 2026 for more drama from Saint Marie.”
Hints of Selwyn’s return have been dropped by Death in Paradise. Alongside a clip of the Commissioner, the show’s official Instagram account teased: “So that’s something to look forward to in the new year!”
“Chief Commissioner, it is Selwyn Patterson,” the Commissioner announced during a snippet from the Beyond Paradise festive episode. “Apologies for calling you during the holidays. But I wanted to know if you’ve found my replacement yet.
“I see…I have been doing some thinking, and I wondered if there was any chance of my returning to the role if it’s still vacant.”

Fans are buzzing with anticipation for the show’s comeback, with one posting on social media, “News series 15 starts Friday 30th January at 9pm…roll on.”
Another chimed in, “Thanks for letting us all know.”
