Death in Paradise star teases ‘something really special’ after show announcement
Death in Paradise fans were thrilled when the BBC confirmed it had been commissioned for another two series.
There’s good news for fans of Death in Paradise as a new series is officially underway. Actor Don Gilet joined the BBC show back in 2024 as newcomer DI Mervin Wilson and has become a firm fan-favourite in the crime series. This week, the actor took to Instagram to share some exciting news for viewers, the programme is currently in production for its next series.
Sharing an image of a clapperboard in front of the gorgeous Caribbean sea, it confirmed they were filming their first scene for series 15. He captioned the post: “We are back & filming is underway, see you soon for Series 16! We’ve been recommissioned for two series, so there’s plenty more Paradise to look forward to! Plus, something really special is happening to kick off the next series, and there’ll be a big surprise to set it up in the Christmas episode.”

Viewers were quick to comment on the announcement, with many thrilled that the show was back in production. One person wrote: “So so excited! Mervin is so missed by me.” Someone else wrote: “That is the best news!”
Another person commented: “Looking forward to it.” While one viewer added: “Amazing news!! Very exciting.” Not only will fans of the BBC show be getting an extra two series, the broadcaster also confirmed there’s going to be two Christmas specials with the returning cast.
Alongside Don returning for his role, Don Warrington will also be making a comeback as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson, Shantol Jackson is back as DS Naomi Thomas and Shaquille Ali-Yebuah returns as Officer Sebastian Rose. Catherine Garton will also be returning as Sergeant Mattie Fletcher and Élizabeth Bourgine as Catherine Bordey. Further guest stars and details of the cases for the new series will be announced in due course.
