Death in Paradise star Don Gilet has been dating one of his co-stars since 2018 – and gave a rare insight into their romance during an appearance on This Morning earlier this year. The DI Mervin Wilson star first met his girlfriend Siobhan Finneran while filming The Loch together in 2017, in which he played forensic psychologist Blake Albrighton and Siobhan played DCI Lauren Quigley.
A year later, things progressed into romance – and Don went on to score Siobhan a job on Death in Paradise. The Happy Valley actress played Fleur Edwards in a 2026 episode of the show alongside her partner, and it was while discussing that role that Don dropped a rare insight into their love story.
He told Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary: “I said, ‘I’ve got a surprise for you’. She thought I was going to propose! ‘No, you’re going to do some acting’.”

“No, she loved doing it. She’s come a long way! Happy Valley, schmappy valley. Have you not seen the stillness she creates now, in front of the camera, since being with me?
“There’s something about the way she acts now, you can’t bottle it. There’s a confidence to her. She gets more work now,” he joked.
Of course, Siobhan has been a famous actress in her own right since the 1980s, appearing in Coronation Street as Josie Phillips from 1989 until 1990.

She and Don have to live separately, however – with Siobhan residing in Saddleworth while Don lives in north London.
Siobhan told The Times: “That’s just the way it is, isn’t it? That’s how it’s always been. And he’s out of the country for seven months a year doing Death in Paradise anyway.”
She added: “We are both off the telly. Other than that we’re pretty normal. You wouldn’t think we were a power couple this morning, both running around trying to get out of the house on time. Hopeless.”
