Beyond Paradise’s Kris Marshall says ‘I’ve had to calm down’ as he shares ‘terrible’ issue
Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall opened up about his life away from the cameras following the recent end of the BBC show’s fourth series
Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall has revealed his “terrible trait”, as he opened up about life away from the BBC show. Fans are used to seeing the actor as DI Humphrey Goodman in Death in Paradise and its spin-off Beyond Paradise, filmed across Devon and Cornwall.
Known for playing a warm, quirky, socially awkward and observant detective on screen, Kris admitted he has a “terrible” habit in real life that can come across as “rude”.
Speaking to My Weekly Magazine, the 53-year-old said: “I’ve really had to learn to calm down because my mind is always working 100 miles an hour and I have a terrible trait of finishing other people’s sentences.
“I remember my dear late mum saying to me, ‘Don’t jump into other people’s conversations – it’s rude’.”
Discussing work and family life, the actor went on to say he enjoys sailing and surfing when he is not filming, although he has become more “risk-averse” since becoming a father.
Kris has been married to Hannah Dodkin since 2012 and the couple share two children, Thomas, 13, and Elsie, 10.
He shared with the publication: “Now I’m a dad, I’ve become more risk-averse but I still enjoy surfing and sailing and I like to do my own stunts when filming.”
The latest series of Beyond Paradise came to an emotional end last week and, according to Kris, filming for the next season is set to begin very soon.
Speaking recently about the show and its future during an appearance on Chris Evans’ programme TFI Friday Unplugged, Kris said: “It’s quite a mad little show, and I love it.”
In response, the presenter said: “We’re in season four now, 5,6,7 (seasons), that’s probably where it’s gonna be and where it’s gonna go, and you’ll all be happy at the end of maybe six series. Do you think they could really stir it up in season five?”.
Kris went on to seemingly confirm that there will be a season five, although he remained tight-lipped about further details.
Asked about the future of the show, he continued: “Well, I mean, how long can a marriage last? I am kidding, I am kidding. I am not gonna give away spoilers, they haven’t even written it yet.”
While the show is currently off-screen, one fan has suggested he would be perfectly suited to play Arthur Weasley in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series.
One person wrote on Reddit: “The right age, funny, definitely capable of that wide-eyed enthusiasm, but as his tone on Death in Paradise shows, more than capable of handling the more dramatic moments. Kris Marshall would be the perfect Mr Weasley.”
Another added: This might be my new favourite Arthur-fancast!” while another agreed: “He would be absolutely perfect.”
