Death in Paradise viewers stunned as fan-favourites appear in another iconic BBC series
Death in Paradise fans have seen actor Danny John-Jules play Officer Dwayne Myers on the BBC show since 2011.

For the past decade, Death in Paradise enthusiasts have followed Officer Dwayne Myers (Danny John-Jules) assisting the Saint Marie police force in cracking cases on the island.
Though he temporarily departed the programme for several years, the beloved character returned to the enduring BBC series in 2021 and was a fixture in the crime drama until the recent series.
Prior to his portrayal of Officer Dwayne Myers, the 65-year-old has enjoyed an impressive career and has featured in productions including the children’s series Maid Marian and Her Merry Men and M.I. High.
Nevertheless, viewers were left stunned after recently discovering the actor has appeared in another iconic television series, Red Dwarf.

Danny portrayed the flamboyant and conceited Cat in the sci-fi comedy series, which also featured the likes of Craig Charles, Chris Barrie and Robert Llewellyn.
The comedy sci-fi series, which launched on the BBC in 1988, chronicles the escapades of the final surviving human and his companions as they’re marooned three million years into deep space aboard the mining vessel Red Dwarf, reports the Express.

Upon recognising the Death in Paradise star featured in the popular series, which concluded its original broadcast in 1999, one fan on Reddit posted a side-by-side comparison of the actor in both parts.
They posted: “This took me way too long, just now realised this is the same actor. Watching a Red Dwarf documentary and seeing Danny John-Jules and realising ‘that’s Dwayne!” There are so many years between the 2 roles that I never connected them.”

It wasn’t long before people commented on the thread, with many in disbelief. One person shared: “My god, you’re right… never occurred to me. Just too focused on the characters, I guess!”
Someone else commented: “I just found that out recently too. Haven’t watched Red Dwarf in years but always loved Cat.” As another added: “Oh WOW. We just started Red Dwarf recently, so we hadn’t seen enough of old him yet to realise!”
While another fan shared an image of Danny alongside his Death in Paradise co-star Don Warrington as they wrote: “Selwyn was in one episode of Red Dwarf too!”
