Emmerdale exit in early ITVX release as character is jailed – but a twist follows

The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX.
Ella Forster (Paula Lane) has returned to prison after attacking Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) in Emmerdale.
The character left the village a few days ago after being accused of drugging Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter). Ella was adamant that she didn’t do it, but no one believed her.
Yesterday, Liam and Chas discovered someone had thrown a brick through a window at the pub. Convinced Ella had done it to scare them, Chas concluded that she’s a dangerous person, unaware she was listening in.
In tonight’s episode, Mandy (Lisa Riley) entered Tenants and found Ella in the kitchen. She explained she was there because she wanted to talk to Liam.
Refusing to hear her friend out, Mandy was taken aback when Ella found a knife in the toolbox on the kitchen side. She threatened Mandy with it and forced her to call Liam.
When he arrived back home, Liam calmly addressed Ella. Sending Mandy away, Ella told Liam that all she wants is for him to believe she didn’t drug Chas.
Taking the time to listen to Ella, Liam was smart with his words at one point, and tricked her into thinking they might have a chance of being together if she’s honest and moves forward.
Under the impression it was a sign Liam wanted to reunite with her, Ella seemingly confessed to drugging Chas.

Once Ella realised that Liam had been somewhat dishonest, she revealed she thought that Liam would love her if she said she spiked Chas.
Without anything to lose, and aware the police were on their way, Ella made a run for it into the woods.
There, a confrontation unfolded between Liam and Ella that resulted in her pushing her ex. Liam fell and hit his head on a rock and because this was how Ella killed her friend Joanne, she believed seconds later that she had also killed Liam.
Liam woke up, thankfully, and then told Ella she needs to take responsibility for her actions, and get professional help.
Unfortunately though, taking responsibility meant Ella was arrested and thrown into a police cell.
Back at home, Chas was relieved to finally see the back of Ella. She told Liam that they could finally focus on being happy.
Liam agreed, but Chas failed to spot the expression on his face. He certainly looked deep in thought about something – was he thinking about everything Ella said during their final moments?
Does Liam believe that Ella was telling the truth after all?
