Sam Dingle (James Hooton) finally issued an update on Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) in tonight’s Emmerdale.

The beloved character has been missing from the show for weeks, but sparked concern recently when she failed to show up to her birthday party.

Kim Tate (Claire King) decided to organise a big do at her home for Lydia, the cleaner and her best friend.

Unfortunately though, as the hours ticked by, it became more and more apparent that Lydia wasn’t going to make it back from her mum’s.

Tonight, Sam confirmed to some of his family members that Lydia won’t be returning anytime soon.

He revealed that her mum is still really sick, so she’ll be away for a good few more weeks – but potentially longer.

We miss her! What will the state of the Dingle family be like when Lydia eventually returns?

The party at Home Farm ended in a pretty dark way, as someone pushed Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) out of a window.

The troublesome character had his secrets exposed in front of everyone moments before. It left multiple characters all with reason to want him dead, but only one was successful in getting their revenge.

It later transpired that Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) was the one responsible, after learning the truth about how he threatened her daughter Clemmie.

Fortunately, due to the connection Joe has with Dawn, he didn’t report her to the police.

Instead, he asked if he could rebuild the trust between them, clearly hoping his plan will end with them back together.
