Former Emmerdale star Roxy Shahidi has cleared up any speculation she’s in a relationship with her co-star in a pretty iconic way.
Roxy left her role as Leyla Harding back in February of this year. Away from soapland, she hosts a podcast with her best mate Matthew Wolfenden, who played David Metcalfe in the show.
Recently, the stars shared a video on their Instagram as they headed to Manchester for more prep for their show Matt and Roxy’s Celebrity Side Hustle.
It was within the comments that saw a fan wonder if Roxy and Matthew are in a relationship.
In the replies, Roxy was quick to respond, posting ‘Good god no!’ as confirmation they are just great friends.
Roxy’s character Leyla was one of the three women who died in the limo crash disaster. As the vehicle crashed onto a frozen lake, Leyla sustained an injury which ultimately led to her death.
She died in hospital along with Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jameson), who was unable to recover from hypothermia after falling into the water.
The other death that occurred was that of Suzy Merton’s (Martelle Edinborough), who sustained a severe head injury when the crash took place.
‘I think the thing I’ll miss most, ultimately, is the fun of Leyla’, Roxy told Metro during a chat that discussed Leyla’s departured.
‘I had some fantastic, dramatic, emotional stories and all actors love to play those, but I think for me what was special about Leyla was that she always exuded energy and playfulness.
‘That is something that I’ve always delighted in. It’s always been a joy to step into her six inch heels, put those brightly-coloured jackets on with the big shoulder pads and just have some fun. She was very colourful and I really, really enjoyed that.’
