Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) was left shaken as John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) unleashed his true nature in a heated showdown over their impending wedding.

Aaron, as fans know, is excited to tie the knot with John and thus it felt like a no brainer to take mum Chas’ (Lucy Pargeter) wedding date and use it for his own nuptials after she was unable to get the deposit back for her cancelled big day.

Grinning with glee, the scrapyard owner practically skipped back to his Mill Cottage flat to inform husband-to-be of the exciting news, confirming that they’re getting married next month.

John, however, didn’t react as Aaron hoped.

In fact, Aaron found his response to the situation downright puzzling, with John launching into a heated tirade, raising his voice, stating that he doesn’t like feeling ‘ambushed’ about his own wedding.

John argued that he should have been consulted first as he stormed out of the flat, leaving Aaron totally taken aback.

Is Aaron starting to realise that perhaps he doesn’t know John as well as he thought?

John’s outburst might seem relatively out of character to him but viewers know that the mysterious Sugden man is much darker than he’s letting on, with scenes last week confirming that he’s responsible for the death of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter).

Nate supposedly left the eponymous village in September last year for a new job opportunity on a wind farm in Shetland. But having been ostracised from the rest of his clan prior to his depature, few have come looking for him in the months since.

Except for Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) that is, who is keen for Nate to cough up some cash for child support as she’s been struggling to make ends meet.

John, meanwhile, appears to have a hero complex, orchestrating situations where people’s lives are in danger so that he can come save the day.

Where Nate is concerned, the situation didn’t pan out as he’d hoped, with the farmhand subsequently dying before he could ‘rescue’ him. In a bid to cover his tracks, John disposed of the body in the aforementioned lake – where it remains, waiting to be found.

And that’s not the only body John has taken care of, with the whereabouts of Anthony’s corpse unknown.

John, as viewers know, assisted in the cover-up of sex abuser Anthony’s demise, but the others involved in the crime are starting to wonder if John can really be trusted.

They’re right to be wary of the new addition to the Sugden clan, with John having secretly set Ella Forster (Paula Lane) up and spiked Chas too.
