Emmerdale’s Beth Cordingly has a famous dad, and fans are gobsmacked.
Beth made her Emmerdale debut in 2024, causing quite the stir as Ruby Fox-Miligan, the estranged missus of Caleb Miligan (played by William Ash).
Recently, Ruby’s had a right rough year on the ITV soap. Her abusive father Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) turned up out of the blue, and it was later unveiled that he was the biological dad to her daughter Steph (Georgia Jay).
In a shocking twist though, Anthony met his end at the hands of Ruby, with several other villagers, including Caleb, helping to hide the crime.

Before her time on Emmerdale, Beth was no stranger to the telly. She’s had roles in Doctors, EastEnders, and Casualty over the years, reports Belfast Live.
Off-screen, Beth is the daughter of David Cordingly, a renowned historian and author. David has written numerous books about pirates and even popped up in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
He featured in the DVD bonus section called Below Deck, which takes viewers on a virtual tour of a pirate ship.
Her father is a well-known writer and historian
Beth has previously spoken highly of her parents, telling Official London Theatre how much they inspire her.
“My mum worked extensively in Child Protection in the 80s and 90s fighting for more recognition of it, helping to make people more aware of the signs to look for,” she revealed.
Speaking about her renowned father, she shared: “My dad is a writer with an incredibly strong work ethic. They’re my favourite people.”

In a discussion about Beth and her famous family on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one user revealed: “Fun fact, Beth’s dad is the writer David Cordingly.”
Another responded: “Oh really.”A third added: “A lovely family!” Yet another wrote: “He was in the extras of Pirates of the Caribbean as well I believe.”
Regarding Beth’s romantic life, she is currently in a relationship with Emmerdale actor Ian Kelsey. The couple have reportedly been acquainted for over twenty years and kindled their romance in 2021.
Since then, Beth has openly declared that she is “very happy” and “so in love” with Ian.
