Emmerdale stars have told The Mirror they were stunned to find out which character would arrive on the ITV soap later this year.
It wasn’t about the big shock return that aired this week, as Tina Dingle headed to the village after 28 years away. With Ross Barton also set to return soon, it’s been teased a “surprise arrival” is being planned for the festive period.
It can’t be Tina or Ross, while it hasn’t been specified whether it’s a big return of a familiar face or if a new character will debut. It’s been worded as a “surprise arrival” at Christmas amid other dramatic scenes.
Speaking to The Mirror, two cast members have shared their shock over the news after finding out who it was. They hinted there were some very “exciting” scenes ahead but they had been sworn to secrecy over the twist.
Amelia Spencer actress Daisy Campbell and Sarah Sugden actress Katie Hill were both trying to avoid giving away any big details about the plot, having only just found out recently what was unfolding. The teased they were left questioning the move, so in shock about the upcoming plot.

Speaking to The Mirror and asked if they were shocked by the twist, Daisy confessed she was. She admitted: “We only found out very recently and I was like erm, what?”
She went on: “When we found out I was like, ‘Oh my, really? That’s happening?” Katie also teased the twist and hinted it could be linked to the Dingles. As we asked whether it was linked to the family, amid the rumours of a Dingle comeback, Katie remained coy but promised epic scenes.
She warned she could be in big trouble if she said too much, heavily hinting it was linked to the family or even the Sugdens. She told us: “It’s exciting, exciting stuff and that’s all I am gonna say because I don’t wanna get in trouble! But keep watching.”
It follows Tina’s return to the Dingle family for Zak Dingle’s funeral on Thursday. The character is now played by Samantha Power, with Tina returning to the village after 28 years.
She was soon revealed to be up to no good, with her trying to get a valuation on the house. Not only that but it was revealed she had a tag on and that she’d likely been to prison, with officers soon coming to take her away.
