Emmerdale has seemingly confirmed who might be John Sugden’s next victim. The ITV soap village is in the dark about what villain John has already done but we now know he is responsible for a lot of worrying events.

He killed Nate Robinson last year in a shock twist that was finally revealed to viewers earlier this month, whilst he was also the one who framed Ella Forster for what happened to Chas Dingle and Liam Cavanagh.

John was also responsible for causing Jacob to have an allergic reaction and now we know he lied about what really happened to the others and is hiding a lot from the rest of the village, including husband-to-be Aaron Dingle.

Tonight, new arrival Connor could have put himself in more danger as he headed back to The Hide to try and give Victoria Sugden, John’s half sister, his number as he wanted to connect again – but instead he bumped into Mack, who got him to spill all about his army days with John and led to a huge confrontation between Mack and John.

Now John is likely to find out the truth of what Connor had said to Mack, could Connor find himself at real risk of losing his life, so John can protect his big secret from the rest of the village.

Speaking about how the big storyline played out, Oliver Farnworth – who plays John – said: “I think for me, the exciting thing is that the viewers find out first before anyone else in the village. So it’s kind of like letting them into these big secrets that John’s been harbouring. It’s caused him a lot of stress and anguish having to hide things. I think the fact that the viewers find out first, is going to be really exciting although I’ll see what the backlash is I guess! It was bound to happen at some point, so I’m glad it’s come out now.

“Obviously, what happened with Nate to all intents and purposes was an accident, but there’s no way that John dealt with it, or is continuing to deal with it, in the right way. Not just from a legal point of view, but from the point of view of the families that will be affected. There will certainly be a lot of fallout from that.”

Discussing his time on Emmerdale so far, Oliver praised his character’s deep backstory and warned there’s more ahead.

“I absolutely love it here at Emmerdale. I really, really, truly love it. I think the character is a gift, really, because the backstory that’s been created from day one is so deep. The different intricacies of the character are just so interesting to play. He’s not just a villain or a bad person on paper, there’s way, way more to it than that. Even day by day, week by week, I’m literally still discovering things about him. So yes, there’s plenty more to come and yes, it’s a gift of a part,” he said.
