John Sugden has played a shock move on Emmerdale amid Nate Robinson’s death being revealed. Last week, the village learned something viewers had known for a long time – Nate’s body was in the lake.

Whilst viewers know that Nate was killed by John, everyone else is none the wiser about what happened to Nate – only that he was killed before he had even got a chance to leave the village.

In tonight’s episode, John was hauled in for questioning with the police over what happened to Nate and he quickly turned the focus to Nate’s ex Tracy. It has been a big few months for John, who is no doubt trying to hold everything together.

His wedding was shockingly interrupted by the return of Robert Sugden, who was hell bent on getting Aaron back. However, Aaron decided he would marry John and they decided to go through with their nuptials.

Tracy recently found out Nate was dead

Now John finds himself in trouble – after Nate’s body was found decomposed in the lake, with fans now speculating about what might happen and whether or not John will be caught – and when.

One fan of the show theorised on Reddit: “John’s actor has been stated to have a year’s contract starting from August last year, I’m guessing he’ll have his last scenes end of summer or autumn in case they extend it. That’s also when they’ve teased that there’s a big storyline for Aaron and Mack that they’ve made huge sets for.

“Robert’s also supposed to come back more regularly end of summer, and Ryan Hawley said that he’s seen scripts up to December. I feel like they’ll start to write Aaron getting closer to Robert, but I’m thinking they’ll tease Aaron and Robert for a good while before getting them back together, and I don’t think they’d have an affair unless they want to write Aaron completely OOC.

“I think Robert may be involved in exposing John. It’d give them the opportunity to treat Robert to a hero-writeup, similarly like they used Aaron’s child abuse storyline to bring them back together previously. So I’m predicting they’ll use John’s villainery as a way to make Robert into the better choice, in both Aaron and the Dingles’ eyes. John’s already been controlling and gaslighting Aaron, so they could amp that up as well.”

Could they be right – and will John leave the show this summer in a huge twist, just as Robert returns full time?
