ITV Emmerdale legend Lisa Riley has spoken out about artificial intelligence bots pretending to be her.
The actress, 48, is best known for her role as Mandy Dingle on the soap, having appeared across several stints since 1995.
Taking to Instagram today, she decided to address a big issue that has had a number of her 217,000 followers duped.
‘Please watch, please listen and please know the truth’ she wrote, alongside a video.
Addressing the camera, the former You’ve Been Framed presenter said: ‘Hello everybody, it’s Lisa here. Now, I have to keep reiterating this, please, and please listen.’
‘If something is not on my page – and my page is blue-ticked – then it is not real,’ she stated, referencing the social media network’s notable person verification system.
‘It is AI pretending to be me, and there is nothing I can do about it. It’s a hoax, it’s a scam and it’s a lie.
‘So please, I’m begging you, don’t click on it, don’t believe it, don’t read it, don’t give it any attention. It’s not true.
‘I have to keep reiterating this because I am inundated with people saying that I’m attached to things that I’m not. So please, if it’s not on my page, it’s not real and I have not endorsed anything of that like.’
She concluded: ‘Listen to what I’m saying, and don’t take it as the truth because it’s not. From me to you, I’m so sorry that it’s going on because it’s not real and I have to keep telling you guys this.
‘But just don’t believe it. It’s a hoax and a scam. It’s not the truth, thank you for listening.’
This comes just one year on from Lisa addressing another identity scam, where fraudulent accounts posing as her obtained bank account details from Emmerdale fans.
‘THIS IS A SCAM’ she wrote at the time.
‘Please please do not click on this if you are sent ANYTHING similar.
‘They are getting bank details. I am so sorry for any inconvenience-this is completely out of my hands.
‘Just some VERY nasty people out there, makes me so angry, all the forums need to sit up and listen!!!!!!!’
Away from her personal life, things are heating up between Mandy and husband Paddy (Dominic Brunt) in scenes that air these week.
The couple simply can’t keep their hands off one another, unaware that something sinister is happening with his dad Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards).
In the not too distant future, Bear will suddenly vanish from the village.
It certainly sounds like a busy few months ahead!
