Residents of Emmerdale are finally beginning to realise it’s awfully strange for Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) to leave the village for a new life in Shetland and not contact his family once.
The reality is, of course, he never left the Dales. He was killed by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), but not intentionally.
What happened to Nate Robinson?
After Nate was attacked by Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), John tried to help him by administering some pain medication. Nate ended up having a bad reaction to the medicine and died, with John later disposing of his body in the lake.
John went on to be responsible for drugging Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and also framing Ella Forster (Paula Lane) for the crime.
It’s a complex web of lies he’s formed and in upcoming episodes, John has to put all of his focus on the secret about Nate, as Cain starts to wonder why his son hasn’t been in touch once since leaving.
Tracy (Amy Walsh) gives Cain a card she wrote with Frankie for Nate’s birthday, hoping he might be able to send it along. With just a phone number, Cain tries to call his son to get a new address, but has to leave a voicemail.
Somewhere in the village, John listens to the voicemail, but panics when Nate’s phone gets another call from Cain and he accidentally answers it.
He leaves the call running for a moment, but then drops the phone in a panic, struggling to cope with his secrets.
Cain makes a decision
In the week, Cain tells Moira (Natalie J Robb) about the call he had with Nate. She encourages him not to give up on getting through to his son.
After spending time with Tracy and Frankie, Cain is concerned as to why Nate would just abandoned his wife and child. He then reaches a conclusion – he’s going to go to Shetland to find Nate.
Just as John learns of this information, he’s left worried.
What will Cain do when he realises Nate is nowhere to be seen in Shetland?
