John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) has told so many lies that he’s not even sure what’s true himself now in Emmerdale. But what he does know is that he plans to protect his bubble with Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) at all costs – even if that means another life.

Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) has unwittingly put himself in the crosshairs having figured out that John lied about Aidan dying and about him being his fiancé. Now Mack is out to crack the mystery that is John Sugden as he has a severe dislike for him.

As far as John is concerned, Mack must be stopped.

He decided to rid himself of his Mack-shaped problem by taking a plank of wood to his head, but as he let the wood fly, he accidentally took out Liam (Jonny McPherson) instead of his intended prey.

For determined John, it was a failed attempt, and a second attempt is on the way.

As the day of the stag do rolls around the rivalry between Mack and John is obvious. Everyone else is in a great mood, but John instead issues Mack with a stark warning that leaves Mack shaken. He has no idea how much danger he’s actually in.

The big paintballing shenanigans begin, and Mack is hellbent on bringing John down a peg.

John notices Mack sneaking off and is quick to follow to catch Mack on his own.

Mackenzie is now separated from the pack and unknowingly vulnerable while being stalked by John.

John enacts his revenge plan on Mack, one that will have enormous consequences, but once again it’s not Mack who feels John’s wrath, it’s an innocent bystander, little Harry. What has John done?

‘That’s bound to happen’, actor Lawrence Robb said, reflecting on the challenges Mack and Aaron’s friendship may face in the coming weeks.

‘There were whisperings of that when Mackenzie told Aaron he sent John away. When someone’s in love the wool’s over the eyes, there’s rose-tinted glasses, your judgement is clouded when love is involved.

‘I do think that Aaron does love John. Mackenzie is treading a path of not wanting to upset his mate but also “How do you not see what’s going on?” kind of thing.’
