Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) has stopped Doctor Crowley (James Hillier) from stealing Kim Tate’s (Claire King) money in Emmerdale, but his plan came at a cost.
Yesterday, Joe’s initial idea to get Kim’s money failed when she decided against his investment opportunity. He then met up with Crowley and Shaun, who instructed Joe to drug Kim and get the cash that way.
In this evening’s episode, Kim spoke to Joe in his room about his odd behaviour. Aware of how distracted he had been lately, Kim pushed him for information, but he covered his back and said he had just been thinking a lot about Graham Foster.
With the drugs in his hands, a shock realisation dawned on Joe. Why doesn’t he just…tell the truth?
A while later, Eddie went into Joe’s room and found Kim on the bed, claiming to have been drugged by Joe. It was the perfect opportunity for Eddie to reveal his true colours, and set about trying to get Kim to transfer the money over.
The entire thing was witnessed by Joe and Shaun. Crowley got as close as getting Kim’s account details, but then got quite a shock.
Kim jumped from the bed after stabbing Crowley with a syringe. She had discovered absolutely everything from Joe earlier that day, and had promised Shaun a substantial amount of cash if he played along as well.
The situation with Crowley seemingly ended once Kim had confirmed she will get Joe’s money back for him. Joe checked on Kim, wondering if she was alright – but the fact she almost fell in love with a dodgy surgeon wasn’t at the front of her mind.
Kim admitted to Joe that she’s really hurt he betrayed her trust by working with Crowley previously, and then failing to tell her about his motives this time round. Joe apologised time and time again, but he knew Kim wasn’t going to move past things very quickly.
Joe said that he will make sure nothing like this ever happens in the future, but can he prove to Kim that he can still be trusted?
