Robert makes an enemy of a major Emmerdale villager – and it’s not John this time

Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) has officially settled back into life in Emmerdale.
The beloved character was released from prison a few weeks ago and made his way to the village immediately after. He claimed that he was back to spend time with his family, but viewers could sense it was to also draw Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) away from John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth).
Away from the feud with his distant brother, Robert has managed to find the time to do a bit of dodgy business.
Last week, Ross Barton (Michael Parr), Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) and Lewis (Bradley Riches) discovered their weed had gone missing. Ross immediately assumed it was Ray (Joe Absolom), the dealer who visited the village earlier in the day, interested in the plants.

As they pondered over the theft, it was revealed that Robert had stolen them. He gave the plants to Ray and he gave him some money – and that cash was used to buy the Sugden farmland a couple of days ago.
Robert spun a story to Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) about how he wanted to buy Annie’s land from her so he could continue their family legacy. It turned out to be a massive lie, as it was then confirmed Robert is working with Kim Tate (Claire King) in the plot.
The details of the plot though? Currently unknown.
Robert’s future aspirations were put in jeopardy tonight when Ross confronted him about his sudden purchase of the land.

It was awfully suspicious to Ross that Robert had suddenly come into some money and suggested that Robert got it by selling the weed. He was confrontational, but Ross wasn’t going to get the upper-hand in this showdown.
Robert pointed out that if Ross did anything regarding the windfall, he could just back out of the deal he made with Moira.
It would leave Moira unable to pay off her many fines – and this was something Ross definitely didn’t want.
So Robert won this battle – but what’s his plan long term?
