Death in Paradise cast: Who plays Mervin’s brother Solomon?
Death in Paradise season 15 has unveiled DI Mervin Wilson’s half-brother for the first time, but who portrays Solomon Clarke?
During the BBC’s Christmas special last year, DI Mervin Wilson (portrayed by Don Gilet) encountered a shock that, unusually, wasn’t work-related.
He got a telephone call from his estranged half-brother Solomon Clarke (Daniel Ward), who had succeeded in locating him and dropped by for a visit in last week’s opening episode.
Regrettably, Solomon is facing financial difficulties and following the rejection of a loan request, he pillaged his half-brother’s home, making off with his treasured record player and vinyl collection.
Solomon is set to appear again in tonight’s second episode, airing this evening, Friday, February 6, as he attempts to repair the damage but instead manages to worsen the situation.
Who plays Mervin’s brother Solomon in Death in Paradise?
Death in Paradise has welcomed Mervin’s half-sibling Solomon Clarke, brought to life by actor Daniel Ward.
The BBC performer is not merely fresh to Saint Marie’s universe but also quite new to showbusiness, possessing only a small number of acting credits to his name, based on IMDb records.
His debut screen appearance came in the 2021 movie A Bird Flew In, which chronicles events following a film production’s closure during the pandemic.
Ward appeared alongside notable performers including Lost actor Jeff Fahey, comedian and mimic Morgana Robinson, and Last Tango in Halifax veteran Derek Jacobi.
He subsequently appeared in the BBC drama This Is Going To Hurt alongside Ben Whishaw, BBC Three’s drama Mood, before landing a role in Netflix’s teen series Everything Now.
As yet, there’s been no confirmation whether Ward will become a permanent fixture in Death in Paradise or if this represents merely a brief guest appearance.
In the second episode of series 15, alongside managing complications created by his half-brother, Mervin finds himself investigating the killing of a psychologist.
The victim was found drowned in the ocean at an upmarket couples’ retreat, yet all the primary suspects were dining together when she met her demise.
But did any of them actually commit the crime, and if they did, how did they accomplish being in two locations simultaneously?
Death in Paradise airs every Friday at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
