Beyond Paradise might be bidding farewell to one character following Friday night’s episode. In the episode, Zoe Williams (portrayed by Melina Sinadinou) voiced her wish to depart Shipton Abbott and travel overseas.

In a conversation with her boss, Martha Goodman (Sally Bretton), Zoe confessed her dissatisfaction with her current life and her aspiration to experience more. She even referenced Martha’s Caribbean adventure, in which she encountered Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) in Death in Paradise.

She also hinted at considering a trip to Australia after crossing paths with PC Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn). In a subtle reference to the Death in Paradise spin-off, Return to Paradise, Zoe mentioned considering a visit to Dolphin Cove, the spin-off’s setting.

As they ran into each other, Zoe remarked, “Sorry, I was miles away.”

“In Dolphin Cove,” Kelby responded, prompting Zoe to inquire, “Have you been?”, reports the Express.

“I wish,” the constable replied. “It just says there. Sorry, I wasn’t snooping; it caught my eye. It looks like paradise. Are you planning a holiday?

“I am thinking about going travelling, seeing a bit of the world,” Zoe answered. “That is what life is about, isn’t it?”

This won’t be the first potential departure in Beyond Paradise, as Humphrey has also been faced with a difficult decision at the police station.

Humphrey has been informed that he must let one team member go to cut costs at the police station. But who will he select?

In an exclusive chat with Express.co.uk, Kris explored the heartbreaking storyline, stating: “I mean, there always has to be some kind of challenge for Humphrey in terms of, because, like I said, you know, otherwise he just wanders around.

“I mean, it’s that paradox, isn’t it, about TV detectives, they’re sort of fish out of water, they don’t really like rules, and yet they exist in one of the most sort of institutional, authoritarian, hierarchies, the police force.”

He went on: “He hates any kind of authority, he hates rules, he hates being told what he has to do, and so it’s thrust upon him, and it literally comes knocking on his door as it does. You know, he really detests that, really dislikes it, and he doesn’t like the pressure.

“And also, he loves his team. He feels like losing one of them would be like losing an appendage, or a part of him, you know.

“He doesn’t feel like he’s the boss. He feels that they all bring a sort of an equal amount to the Melange, you know, to the Jamboree, and so I think he’s thrust into this, as I said about him, living on a boat, he’s quite happy living on a boat.”

“It’s not that he doesn’t think about Martha, it’s just not on his radar. He’s this slightly neurodiverse kind of guy, and so these things are thrust upon him, and he doesn’t necessarily deal with it very well,” Kris concluded.
