Death in Paradise fans may have been looking forward to the finale of the latest series – but the much-anticipated episode will not air on Friday night. The hit crime series, which currently features Don Gilet in the starring role of DI Mervin Wilson, is nearing the end of its 15th series and normally airs on Fridays at 9pm.
The seventh episode of the series ended on a cliff-hanger as DI Wilson’s niece turned up on his doorstep – but viewers will have to wait a further seven days to find out what happens next.
But this is not the first time this series that the drama has been pulled to accommodate other programming. Earlier in the series, the FA Cup match between Chelsea and Hull was broadcast instead, meaning viewers had to wait to see the third episode. However, at this time, the episode was released on BBC iPlayer around the time it was due to air before being broadcast on linear television a week later.

On Friday night, BBC One will instead run the annual telethon for Comic Relief, with TV favourite Davina McCall at the helm of it all. The former Big Brother host will joined by stars such as Katherine Ryan, Joel Dommett and Catherine Tate as they all rally together in a bid to raise money for charity.
BBC hits including Amandaland and The Traitors will also make up part of the programming, each of them having filmed comedic sketches for the cause. Comic Relief: Funny for Money will broadcast live on BBC iPlayer and BBC One on Friday, March 20 and for the very first time, live-streamed simultaneously on the official BBC YouTube channel.
Viewers can tune in at 7pm to watch the extravaganza unfold, with co-host Joel Dommett promising one of the “best openings to Comic Relief ever.” The telethon will run for three hours on BBC One, at 10pm Red Nose Day fun will continue on BBC Two as Romesh Ranganathan hosts a very special episode of Comic Relief Does The Weakest Link.

Speaking about the presenting team, Davina said: “What’s so nice is that I’m hosting with Joel Dommett, and Joel’s actually one of my best friends! So, it’s so nice to be presenting with him.” She added: “Knowing that I’m with him whilst also presenting with Nan (Catherine Tate) is very reassuring, because actually, I am mildly terrified of Nan if I’m honest!
“How I’m going to stop her from swearing, I just don’t know! Obviously ‘please do not swear’ was my catchphrase – so I’m going to have to stay on my toes. Katherine Ryan, I love. I mean, Nick Mohammed, I was obsessed with Ted Lasso so I’m so excited about working with him. It’s going to be an amazing, amazing night.”
