Beyond Paradise aired its series four finale on Friday night, with viewers left emotional

Beyond Paradise drew to a close on Friday night, 1 May, with an emotional finale as the series reached its conclusion.

During season four, episode six, viewers witnessed Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) bidding a heartfelt farewell to Zoe (Melina Sinadinou), daughter of Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi), as the young character embarked on her travels.

The Shipton Abbott community gathered for a poignant send-off, during which Martha presented Zoe with a compass – a treasured family heirloom in a deeply touching moment.

Elsewhere in the episode, fans had grown anxious that Detective Humphrey Goodman might also be departing after he put his position on the line to protect the Shipton Abbott police team. Humphrey had found himself in the unenviable position of having to make one of his team members redundant.

Yet, in an unexpected twist, his mother-in-law Anne Lloyd (Barbara Flynn) stepped in with an intervention. Following what appeared to be his final case, Anne confronted Humphrey’s superior, James Smith (Vincent Franklin), armed with some rather incriminating photographs, reports the Mirror.

Once presented with photographic proof, Humphrey was promptly restored to his role, with no job losses occurring at Shipton Abbo

Anne then dropped a bombshell, revealing she had uncovered a secret affair between the Heston Morley DI and Mr Smith.

Faced with photographic evidence, Humphrey was swiftly reinstated to his post, with no redundancies taking place at Shipton Abbott – a thoroughly satisfying conclusion for the much-loved police team.

Flocking to Twitter, now X, after the final episode, viewers were quick to voice the very same demand. One viewer commented: “I really wish #BeyondParadise and #ReturnToParadise were 8 episodes like #DeathInParadise as we could watch so much more.”

A third viewer questioned: “I wonder BBC only commissioned 6 episodes of Beyond Paradise when Death in Paradise as 8 episodes???? #BeyondParadise.”

Elsewhere, another viewer insisted: “There needs to be more eps than 6!”, while a separate account wrote: “I couldn’t agree more Six eps just isn’t enough” and another enthusiastic fan added: “Exactly! Death in Paradise is 8 per series, so Beyond should be too.”
