Death in Paradise fans react as spin-off confirms return of beloved detective
Death in Paradise fans are thrilled as Beyond Paradise has confirmed the return of one detective
Bosses of Death in Paradise have confirmed the comeback of Detective Esther Williams (portrayed by Zahra Ahmadi) in Beyond Paradise, following fans’ observations that the character was absent from the initial series four images.
Accompanied by a snapshot of Esther, the caption teased, “Did we think we could get away with teasing you with our first look photo? Maybe. Did you let us know you needed to see Zahra Ahmadi in the new series? Yes. Loudly.
“So here you go. #BeyondParadise series 4 comes to BBC One and iPlayer later this month!”.
Fans were overjoyed by the announcement and flooded the comments section with their reactions. One exclaimed, “I AM ON THE FLOOR.”
Another cheered, “Hoorah, Esther is ace,” reports the Express. Whilst a third chimed in, “Humphrey would be lost without her.”
“Screaming,” another fan added, whilst one more enthused, “Yes, yes, yes … I love Beyond Paradise……and I love to see her back again.”
Other viewers expressed hope for a romantic reunion between Esther and Archie (Jamie Bamber), as the detective had ended their relationship in series three. “PLEASE put Archie and her back together on the show,” one implored.
Beyond Paradise will return to screens later this month, featuring Humphrey (Kris Marshall) and his team solving a series of crimes in Shipton Abbott.
The fourth series will welcome a host of renowned guest stars, including Susan George, Phil Daniels, Michael Cochrane, Melanie Walters, and Vincent Franklin.
Joining Zahra and Kris once more will be Sally Bretton (Martha Lloyd), Dylan Llewellyn (PC Kelby Hartford), Barbara Flynn (Anne Lloyd) and Felicity Montagu (Margo Martins), Jamie Bamber (Archie Hughes), Melina Sinadinou (Zoe Williams), Eva Feiler (Lucy Thompson), and Phil Daniels (Marvelous Harris).
The synopsis for the forthcoming series hints, “DI Humphrey Goodman and the team will be back in Shipton Abbott as they investigate the death of a novelist who predicted their demise, a magical night of Dark Morris that soon turns sour, a stolen treasure map that suddenly reappears, and the alleged sighting of a vengeful mermaid lurking out at sea.
“Humphrey (Kris Marshall) and Martha (Sally Bretton) launch into married life as they search for a new home, whilst Humphrey wrestles with an impossible decision that may change the lives of everyone at the station forever.”
Beyond Paradise and Death in Paradise can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
