Death in Paradise fans think Mervin Wilson’s brother is a familiar face
Death in Paradise fans appear to have identified the brother of DI Mervin Wilson (played by Don Gilet), Solomon. During the Christmas special, which aired on Sunday, Mervin finally got to speak to his long-lost brother on the phone after not knowing about each other for years.
Just before he solved the case, Mervin got a surprising phone call from Solomon, who called from an unknown phone number in Antiga.
“Look, I told you, mate from before, I am not interested in upgrading to another phone,” Mervin said as he answered the call. “Stop calling me, yeah?”
“Is that Mervin Wilson?” the voice at the other end of the phone asked, to which the detective replied, “Yeah, it is still Mervin Wilson, and I am still not interested.”
“It is me, Solomon, your brother,” the voice replied. “Are you there, Mervin?”
The detective brought the car to a halt and was left speechless that his brother had returned his call. “Solomon, it is Mervin,” he eventually said. “Look, mate, I am sorry, I just wasn’t expecting your call.”
“I know,” Solomon went on. “I am sorry it has taken me so long to get in touch.”
However, during the chat, Mervin ended up solving the murder case after spotting a clue on the beach, leading him to hang up the phone.
“Solomon, I am sorry to do this to you, and I am so glad you called,” he said. “I really want us to talk again, but right now, there is something I need to do.”
Following the episode, fans have been sharing their own theories online about who Solomon could be. Writing on a Facebook fan page, one fan said, “Glad Commissioner Patterson is back and dying to find out who Solomon is.”
Another commented, “I wonder if we have already seen him.” While a third added, “Can’t wait to see Mervin and his brother meet for the first time.”

Someone else went on, “Who will Solomon turn out to be? Bring on the new series.”
“I can’t wait to meet Solomon,” one shared while another commented, “I reckon he is someone we have seen before.”
One fan asked, “Why is Solomon calling on an unknown number?”
Another fan thinks Solomon will appear in the upcoming series of Death in Paradise, theorising, “A Mervin and Solomon meet up is on the cards for the new series of Death in Paradise.”
The Death in Paradise Christmas special also saw the surprise return of the Commissioner (Don Warrington). Selwyn was in the UK visiting his daughter for Christmas when Mervin called him to help him with the murder case, which had links to Swindon.
Not only did Selwyn help to crack the case, but he also made an appearance in the Beyond Paradise Christmas special, where he witnessed Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) get married.
